Our Story - The Clanton Clan

We have never formally introduced ourselves, so I figured with all the new followers it would be a good time. My name is Jamie & my husband is Kevin. We have basically been together our entire life. Starting with elementary school & going to the same church, our families always new each other and our dads also went to the same school and played ball together. I am 8 months older than my husband, but we were 2 yrs apart in school (I started early/he got held back a year). He started asking me out when we were in the 6th & 8th grade and just kept being persistent. We actually have a picture of us together in the 6th & 8th grade homecoming. I was the taller one then, lol. We starting actually dating at 15 & 16, got married the day I turned 20, & life has been a blur since. We are now 44 & 45 years old. This past September we have been married for 25 yrs. Of those 30+ yrs of being together we have only been away from each other just a few times. He had a very successful tile business where he built custom showers, floors, etc. as I stayed home with our 3 kids of which are all grown now. We have 2 sons & 1 daughter, 1 son in law & 2 daughter in laws, & of course one beautiful new grand baby. Once they were in school I started going to work with him and doing tile also along side him. That is what got us into raising the doodles. We did a family’s tile and they had a dog I wanted, and it was actually available. We almost decided not to raise the doodle’s but little did we know it was meant to be. I would go to work with him when we didn’t have puppies, and when we did I would stay home and he’d come home in the evenings and help with the puppies. 20 yrs of doing tile will wear your body out. Thankfully the Lord had a plan that allowed my husband to stop doing tile and stay home, and now we are both home daily with all of the animal family. I always told my family growing up, “You just wait and see I’ll have all kinds of animals”. Well, I did always dream of monkeys, but it was just that. A dream. Now to our reality of having them we are truly blessed. God has always been good to us and I don’t think I honestly could’ve ever written my life any better if I had the chance. Neither of us had prior experience with monkeys. We just new we loved them. Nothing can prepare you to be a monkey family. Just lots of love, time, & dedication to them is what we have done. I can’t imagine life without them. I know it’s long but just wanted to introduce ourselves and share a little of our background story. We can’t believe our little family makes so many others in the world so happy. The love you all have shown to us and our baby’s is just amazing. Everyone always says in our social media comments that those monkeys are so lucky to have you two. I have to say that my husband & I are actually the lucky ones. 💜

The Stars of Our Life Adventures

I also wanted to introduce the real stars of OUR LIFE ADVENTURES. They bring so much joy to us daily and we love sharing it with you all. Rooster in the fire truck outfit was our very first monkey. He’s a spider monkey and came to us at a whopping 9 ounces. He did have a little health issues at first but we got him over that quickly. He has always been the clingiest and most shy since day one but always warms up to people, and loves to jump and ride his horsey. He is a spider monkey and his birthday is December 13, 2020. He is the oldest at 2 years old. He weighs right at 10 pounds now but still will grow until he’s 5 to 6yrs old getting to around 20 to 30 pounds. Then came along Bear, a capuchin. My oh my that Bear. He loves to explore and is a very curious boy. He loves big and gives the best loves. When you see Bear he will most often wear a leash. This is because inside a home there is so much he can get into (medicine, cleaning products, etc) that are harmful. We have locks on everything, but Bear can figure out those locks and then we have to upgrade again. The leash gives us a longer reach to get him when he gets something he shouldn’t. He will also hide if he has something he’s not supposed to so another reason to need a longer reach. Bear loves to tinker with things, groom everyone and play with his 2 bird friends. Bear was our second addition and his birthday is March 9, 2021 and he is 2 years old. He weighs a little over 4 pounds but will still grow until 4 to 5 yrs old getting to around 8 to 10 approximately. Then came along sweet Birdy, another spider monkey. She is our beauty queen, and always has been a very content little girl that will often occupy herself. She loves her doggie Bronco and will ride him. She can also skateboard and loves to play peek-a-boo. Birdy is calm as a cucumber until she gets mad and then boy she has a temper. Birdy's birthday is May 20, 2021 and she will be 2 years old. She is right at 9 pounds and will grow until she’s 5 to 6 yrs old getting to 20 to 30 pounds approximately. Last but not least came along Lucy, a spider monkey, our little spitfire dare devil. Lucy has her own story as a lot of you know with her struggles early in life before she came to us. We were asked by strangers to temporarily help care for her. She had never had a bottle and was very thin and malnourished. The family loved her but was given bad information on how to care for her. Thankfully, they reached out and she came to us. We had her for a couple of weeks until the family made the hard decision that she needed to stay with us. We quickly taught her how to drink a bottle and provided better nutrition. Lucy loves to play dress up with my clothes and do summersaults. Her biggest joy is climbing the highest in the trees and doing free falls as some have been seeing her do. The family that gave her to us didn’t know her birthday, but knew a timeframe. We gave her the birthday of January 1, 2022 because that would have been somewhat around the time, and what a better day to give her than New Year’s Day. She is right at 7 pounds now and will grow until she’s 5 to 6 yrs old getting to approximately 20 to 30 pounds. Then there is Maui (Eclectus) parrot & Tiki (Macaw) that also brings families joy and that you will see at times. Bear seems to love them more than his fellow monkeys! We get messages everyday from all over the world of someone sharing that seeing our videos helps them with the struggles in life they may be going through. Some have brought me to tears. We are so happy that our little family can provide some joy in your lives in such a crazy world. For those who are new, welcome to OUR LIFE ADVENTURES
